Local Cooling

More than 30 billion kilowatt-hours of energy is wasted because many of us simply forget to shut down our computers when we’re not using them. If we could just improve the efficiency of how we use our PCs, the savings in energy costs would be over $3 billion dollars! The CO2 emissions from just 15 computers are equivalent in energy terms to the gas consumption used by one car.

LocalCooling is a 100% Free power management tool from Uniblue Labs that allows users to optimize their energy savings in minutes and as a result reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions

In my company, there is a team working on sustainability to avoid global warming and power saving. As a part of it we make sure that we shut down our system while leaving for the day and make sure we are switching our monitors while taking a break and avoid giving unnecessary printout, etc…

We make a difference, How about you?

  1. True, even if not for ‘combating global warming’, it makes sense to switch off for avoiding wastage. I switch off my monitors but rarely bother to shut down my comp while leaving for the day. Perhaps I ll bother henceforth. Consciously or unconsciously, by using a black theme for ur blog, you’ve brought down energy consumption on the viewer’s computer (bcoz black screens require lesser pixels lighted). You’re on track ;).

  2. @jayan: Actually, I didn’t think too much about power consumption while choosing the theme..But still I make a difference 😉

  3. green house gas emissions are mainly from our large use cooling equipments like refigerator, Air condnr etc. If people can reduce the use of such system we can control the global warming to an extent also (1000 A4 sheet of paper = one tree, can you tell me how many plantation you have done till now,,,,,,,,?
Global warming will tend to stone life of humans……..
